Reach

Originally uploaded by originalsteve.

Finished this painting today…..been working on it for a month or so…its representing the will to reach that goal or special something you wont in your life…even if there is something similar you know what you want.

The image was originaly created in photoshop….and then i converted it to canvus…

So glad i finally finished it….

An evening that started to look as if it was going to go tits up actually completely turned itself around…was awesome!

Work at the moment is manik…being Bank Holiday weekend the pub has been rammed…and quite a lot of my work mates are away so the same bunch of us are working together all the time…..we all need the break a the mo…just looking forward to my day off on Wednesday…and the fact that im doing a 10-2 tomorrow…(means I am working from 10am till 2 pm)

Last night things were just pissing me off….and all that was on my mind was getting out early….which never happened……and some of my mates were out in town….one who was down especially for the weekend…

So after work I decided to meet everyone in the local club (remedies). When i got there, there was a MASSIVE cue…thought I wasn’t gonna make it in….but once I was inside things were brilliant…me and my house mate went and danced to some CHHESY house music….my friend complemented me on how good I was looking (which is not what I usually hear)…loads of dancing, photos (check out the rest of my flickr) later I was in a really good mood…the evening ended on a nice note with a cool cup of tea.

So if you believe in Karma…..think things turned out for the better…

Now just off to work on a massive 9 hour stint!!! awsome?

Where has this summer gone? I can’t believe we are nearly in September already. According to an article I read in The Times today (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-2328031,00.html#cid=OTC-RSS&attr=Britain) the summer is all over…we are not expecting the temperature to go above about 21 degrees again….and there is an increase in tornadoes, thunder and lighting. Especially in Cornwall!

Its weird…my first summer that I stayed in Cornwall to work and chill out and I haven’t done half the stuff that I planned….the plan was to go camping nr a beach. Make a website and stuff…… I have though done 2 paintings (picture to be posted when done) and an animation (see previous blog)…and taken a shed load of photos (www.flickr.com/photos/theoriginalsteve) and been TRYING to write a blog so I have achieved a lot!

This summer has been cool though. I had enough time at home to have a good time and not get bored and not argue too much with the family. It’s been a summer of independence and I feel that Falmouth is defiantly my home now (even thought that might be for just one more year) Quite a few of my mates have been down, and I think we have got a bit closer and things which has been nice.

Its all been jammed pack fun….loved it all!

But I feel the autumn is coming…mates are going home for about 2-3 weeks. Fresher’s month (yeah I know a month sounds long but its 2 weeks for foundation students and 2 for undergrads) is coming up and I’m going to be really busy being Mr VP, and I start my 3RD YEAR aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!

Its time for the jumpers to be brought out…and the shorts and flip flops to be put away!

Well I should really get up now…..
Will blog again soon…

I was reading this article today that made me think about social network sites and what they make people do….

The article is about what happened when friends of a murdered girl in the USA posted a memorial about her on My Space. The results are amazing and showed me the power of the internet.

So many people were ‘touched’ by her death that they wrote a comment on the page. For me some of these are really sad and stupid…one girl put a comment apologising about not putting a comment on because she was ‘working at the weekend’

It seems to me that people have gone a bit OTT over this…songs and poems have been written by people who never actually knew her!

I would only do something like this for people who I actually knew or this person had done something amazing in their lives.

The murdered teenager was just a normal teenager of 17, who was close to all her friends…she might have been a special person to her friends but to the rest of the world she is just another person who dies every day. I don’t mean this in a mean way but it is true.

My Space has its own little strange quirks. But if you are part of the ‘generation’ it is you life!

The article is on the media guardian website (http://media.guardian.co.uk/newmedia/story/0,,1775072,00.html)

If you want to look at the My Space its www.myspace.com/loving_memory_anna and leave a comment if you must!

I was listening to a radio documentary that made me think about life. It was a minute-by-minute documentary about the execution of death row inmates at the Walls Unit in Huntsville, Texas. This powerful documentary subtly portrays the feelings of the wardens and the media who are witnesses to the lethal injection.

“Witness to an Execution”
http://www.soundportraits.org/on-air/witness_to_an_execution/

Even though the American government believe that they have the right to take away the life of a human being, they don’t take into account the actual feelings of the people who have to do it and witness the execution. In the documentary there is an account from a warden who had a break down from participating in so many deaths.

At a deeper level, what got to me was the fact that some one has the right to terminate the life of a human being. I personally believe that no one has the right to terminate the life of another human being. Everyone has the right to life, however constrained it might be! If they have done wrong then they should be punished and jailed, but not to kill them. It is literally murder.

I encourage everyone to listen to the documentary.

Had some free time the other day so i put up some Photos on my wall and made an animation about it!

Spent Days trying to upload it!!!

Well as you can see ive changed blog sites AGAIN!!!
I think im going to make this page my home from now on..it gives me a swish page….and i can also blog my photos from flickr which is cool!

Again another beautiful day in cornwall and im blogging…but oh well its all fun! Gotta dash Neighbours is on!

Currently lying in bed and thinking that I should really get up. As usual it’s a beautiful day in Cornwall and I’m still in bed after a night out….sad hugh!

But what a wonderful way to spend the summer…I’ve got the beach about 5 minutes down the road….my job is mostly evenings in a bar…think I’ve got this summer sorted really….about 3 weeks in so far and I’m loving it. It’s different to how I usually send my summers back in Kent. Love my friends back there…but I think this summer I needed this. Certainly been learning over the uni experience that I need my independence. I love my family and all but you know when its time to fly the nest.

Just about to go into my third year at uni, the last year that I really don’t want to happen. Its scary because I have to start thinking about my next move……do I stay in Cornwall and set up a business….move to a city like Cardiff, Manchester or Bristol? Do I move abroad and set up a new life there (personally the last option is one of my favourites at the moment) I really just don’t know!

Back to reality for a second though, I’m going to enjoy what I have at the moment. The sand, the sea and the sun…once in a life time opportunity I think, and a memory that will last for a long time.
